Job Description

Be the driving force behind Rockwell Automation customers and help identify the right services and solutions to meet their operational and business objectives!

Position Summary:

As the Application Consultant, you will work directly with Rockwell Automation customers to help identify and expand specific scopes of work, strategically leveraging Rockwell services and solutions capabilities to help them meet their overall business objectives. This fast-paced, attention-to-detail position includes your engagement at various customer levels from engineering, operations, and procurement on up to plant manager or executive level.

Description:

Working primarily in a customer-facing role specialized by application or industry, the Application Consultant will engage with customers to identify and expand specific scopes of work that Proposal Specialists will use in their customer proposals and deliver through capability delivery teams. In this position, your mindset will be customers by Proposal Specialists to expand the scope beyond their immediate area of specialty to include all Rockwell capabilities.

The Application Consultant supports sellers in pursuits by utilizing their domain expertise in key solution areas or industry knowledge when assigned through our win strategy process. They will be engaging at various customer levels, including engineering, operations, and procurement, as well as the plant manager or executive level to illustrate the overall value of Rockwell Automation as a delivery partner. As an example, building influence through affiliation with trade organizations associated with their specialization or industry.

While the primary focus of this role is sales pursuits, a portion of time will be spent driving growth at target customers for the solutions business. Application Consultants will be deeply involved during the negotiation phase of a project ensuring we are aligning scope to meet the customers budget and are in a competitive position. They are also responsible to ensure that additional resources such as Account Managers and Solution Consultants are able to position our capability to deliver solutions within their area of expertise through training and use of sales enablement content. They will act as a lead to other Application Consultants to bring these other areas into a comprehensive proposal. As an example, if they are specialized in the process capability, but the opportunity requires a drive system, they will engage an Application Consultant specialized in drive systems. In these cases, one Application Consultant would be specified as the lead and would pull the entire project scope together. The Application Consultant will be involved in the forecast process, hold opportunity cadence reviews with their distributor partners and manage their funnel. This role will be an Annual Executive Incentive Plan (AEIP) compensation role.
