We are looking for a new colleague to join our Application Engineering Department in Washington, MI!

Position Summary: The purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate the product application development for IRS product families (CAB, KnAB, PAB and SAB) within one customer. The Application Engineer is the main contact for all technical matters to the customer, as well as for the Product Design. The Application Engineer handles all development activities in terms of specifications, DVP & R, FMEA, Product approvals, etc. and takes care of the coordination of all technical requirements, problems, change requests from the customer and system environment coming towards the product development team. The Application Engineer must guarantee maximum customer focus and achieve best customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

• Create all required prototype and production component and module drawings.
• Create program specific ERD's to release drawings, LAT documents, DFMEA, LOIC DVP&R/PVP&R.
• Create engineering driven program Deviations.
• Lead customer contact.
• Create all component DVP&R's.
• Obtain final DVP&R/PVP&R customer approval.
• Lead DFMEA/LOIC development and customer reviews.
• Identify necessary test and assembly fixtures and work with design team to complete designs/drawings.
• Support plant LLR, PV builds, and run at rates.
• Lead the development of program specific module 3D Cad and study files.
• Lead the development of program specific FEA and CAE studies.
• Create and conduct all CV, DV, and PV design reviews.
• Attend all program specific SET meetings.
• Support Program Management in developing program timing and ensure program stays on track.
• Ensure BOM cost targets are met or exceeded.
• Identify and ensure all program specific customer and legal requirements are achieved.
• Lead engineering support for all ZF manufacturing facilities.
• Ensure customer parts and test fixtures are available for system testing conducted at ZF.
• Manage all customer PO's and delegate to product engineer.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 1+ years of related experience.
• Comprehensive product, system, and process skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Comprehensive experience with customer.
• Very good English language skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Post-Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• 4+ years of related experience.
• Comprehensive experience in Product Development of airbag components.
• Comprehensive experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
• Knowledge in the areas of crash simulation, biomechanics, and vehicle-occupant kinematics.
• Knowledge of the current legal requirements for vehicle safety.
