Communication Technology Services (CTS) has a managed services business that provides Mobile Network Operators in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean hosted and onsite solutions. These services include network data management through policy and A2P messaging services. CTS is also building a next-gen (4G & 5G) managed service business to provide enterprise customers with a turnkey Private Cellular Network (PCN) for mission critical business applications and wireless connectivity needs.

We are seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, talented, and industrious Applications Engineer.

You will work alongside the Network Operations support team on-site in our Greenville, SC Network Operations Center to provide day-to-day support of multiple production applications including:

• Investigate, diagnose and resolve production issues as logged by monitoring tools or as reported by customers.
• Fulfill Customer requests
• Root cause analysis
• Develop Knowledge Base articles and Standard Operating Procedures
• Participate in 24x7 on -call rotation

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

• 5+ years of supporting and troubleshooting applications in a primarily Linux based environment within the cellular wireless industry
• 3+ years of experience with back-end technologies such as Tomcat, ActiveMQ (or similar), MySQL/MariaDB, Java, web services ( SOAP, REST etc).
• 3+ years of network troubleshooting (Solid grasp of the network stack)
• 3+ years using the shell command line
• Ability to analyze log files
• Basic scripting to automate repetitive tasks (i.e. Bash, Perl or Python)
• Understanding of relational database concepts
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Desire and ability to share skills, knowledge and expertise
• Collaborate across multiple internal teams and with customers
• Ability to learn and apply new concepts
• Inquisitive self-starter with strong attention to detail

Knowledge in any of these areas would be highly preferred:

• SQL queries
• ActiveMQ
• Nagios/Cacti/Qeleo or related network monitoring tools
• Network hardware (Cisco, Fortigate, MicroTik)
• Mobile Carriers, Messaging
• Sandvine
