Application Engineer

The Application Engineer provides functional and technical leadership to application development projects, including participation and leadership for new products and/or services under development. Must be able to lead a functional activity or set of activities related to cross functional application development project. Participates in application development activities in the delivery of Cloud and internally hosted applications including designing, coding, testing and deployment tasks. Understanding of modern application development architectures, both on-prem and Cloud hosted, including Web, API, and Microservices.

Application Engineer

This role includes the maintenance and management of our internally developed applications within the Application Design and Development department to deploy and manage and administer our developed applications internally to DHL Supply Chain with global reach. Site management including addition and decommissioning of sites on an ongoing basis. Provides support for the applications, planning, design or applications in the Supply chain space like, visibility, reporting and other internal applications - Uses Standard Project management life cycle deliverables as well as the Software Development Life Cycle process. Attends status meetings. Regularly communicates progress against administration activities. Executes and communicates standard reports to Team Leads and Management.

Job Description

• Site management including addition and decommissioning of sites on an ongoing basis from our internally developed applications through our work request and service request process.
• Acts as a liaison between Business and Technology problems to be solved with automated systems. This includes, but is not limited to, application development, configuration, automation, patching, and other related activities from an automation perspective.
• Acts as gateway to between application development team and ITS teams understanding underlying ITS processes well.
• Provides technical assistance in deployment our systems in our internally hosted environments as well as cloud hosted environments.
• Works with all technology teams to provide status updates, assess project needs, and to recommend solutions to complex technology matters.
• Ensures all technology changes meet standards of quality, compliance, security, and soundness.
• Must be able to demonstrate a collaborative approach with developers and subject matter experts to drill into technology solutions and internal network and routing processes within our network.
• Must be able to engage with a diverse group of people and create strong partnerships with our internally technology subject matter experts and end users.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or 3-5 years relevant IT experience
• 2+ years of application management experience
• 3+ years of application automation experience
• 3+ years of technical project coordinator experience
• 3+ years of internal and external customer management experience
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to read and understand software specifications
• Ability to work in a team environment with supervision

Preferable Skills:

• Knowledge and understanding of application project coordination:
• SQL knowledge
• Basic understanding of Java applications-desirable
• Basic understanding of networking concepts-desirable
• Understanding of firewall and routing technologies
• Understanding of Business as usual and DEV/OPS processes and activities
• Understanding of our technology operational processes as needed, with accuracy and in compliance with our security requirements
• Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
