Individual contributor provides a high level of leadership and expertise in systems analysis and design, application development and/or integration, and testing of complex systems applications to support business needs. Provides guidance to others informally and formally leads teams on a project and/or program. The focus of this position will be leading, architecting, designing, developing or integrating business applications.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

• Evaluate complex client area requirements, processes, design and application system specifications.
• Develop, test, and implement efficient and cost effective application solutions.
• Develop full stack and front end applications in React, Express and Node backed by microservices developed in Spring boot and databases like PostgresSQL and Oracle that can be deployed to any cloud platform.
• Create full CI/CD pipelines in Concourse to automate and streamline build, containerize using Docker and deploy them to Kubernetes.
• Plan, design and execute migrations of legacy monolithic business applications to cloud platforms like AWS and Google Cloud.
• Conduct issue resolution and perform on-going system maintenance.
• Lead the integration of vendor applications and resources with existing ones.
• Act as technical consultant to programming staff and business unit to mentor staff in all phases of the program development, testing, and implementation process.
• Instruct, direct, and check the application design work of others.
• Facilitate relationship management and contract negotiations.
• Ensure adherence to requirements.
• Develop recommendations for architecture direction and applications portfolio.

Typically reports to Director or above
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or engineering and 5 (five) years of experience in application development.
Must have some work experience with each of the following:

• Develop full stack and front end applications in React, Express and Node backed by microservices developed in Spring boot and databases like PostgresSQL and Oracle that can be deployed to any cloud platform;
• create full CI/CD pipelines in Concourse to automate and streamline build, containerize using Docker and deploy them to Kubernetes; and
• plan, design and execute migrations of legacy monolithic business applications to cloud platforms like AWS and Google Cloud within insurance domain.

Primary Location United States - Chicago, IL - 100% telecommuting is allowed from anywhere in the United States.
Organization - Technology
Mon-Fri., 8:30am - 4:45pm, 37.5 hours/week, $134,118 to $147,000 per year, overtime exempt. This position qualifies for CNA's employee referral policy program.
