What will you be doing?

The mission of the End User Core Build (EUCB) team is to enhance and support the Naval Enterprise Network (NEN) end user environment including all stages of creating and maintaining the standard end user device core build for delivery, upgrade, and security updates. As the Application Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the configuration, integration, and testing of the Windows desktop core build ensuring quality, accuracy, and precision in all known configurations. You will be responsible for managing, integrating, updating, and testing end user hardware in the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) environment. You will follow detailed procedures while striving for continual improvement in everything you do. You will work in a fast paced, time critical environment supporting the Warfighter and bringing innovative change and value to the entire NMCI.

Location: Although this position is remote, please note there will be some onsite work required.Must be able to work locally in the Baseline NEN Lab onboard NIWC PAC in San Diego.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in configuring, integrating, and managing end user devices within workbenches.
• Thoroughly test the Core Image functionality on all new platforms and specialty seats by utilizing approved testing procedures.
• Understand, configure, and update hardware device drivers for end user devices and attached peripherals.
• Apply and test BIOS and Firmware updates.
• Test installations from network and local media and perform troubleshooting.
• Update all required documentation in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all processes and procedures and suggest areas for improvement.
• Manage your work queue using a ticketing tool.
• Work in a diverse team environment.

Requirements:

• Interim Secret needed to start
• Bachelor's Degree in a related preferred, but a High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) with 4 years of relevant experience is needed to start.
• IAT II
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) version 3 Foundation certification is required.
• Experience working with end user device hardware including Central Processing Unit, memory, BIOS, and firmware.
• Experience working with end user device peripherals such as docking stations, Network Interface Cards, monitors, etc.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system.
• General understanding of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) applications.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions.
• Ability to use a ticketing tool, such as Jira, BMC Remedy, or ServiceNow to manage and update tickets.
• Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is a plus.
