Job Summary

The One America Information Technology department is searching for a knowledgeable, driven, Snowflake Developer to join the Data Delivery team. The ideal candidate will leverage their skillset to provide thought leadership and develop solutions in the Snowflake platform.

The Snowflake Application Engineer, Senior works with customers, architects, and partners to implement solutions on the Snowflake platform.

This role will build data-intensive applications with flexible performance, scalability, and concurrency parameters; and leverage the horizontal and vertical scalability, which is a function of the multi-cluster, shared data architecture that Snowflake is built upon.

This role will build and maintain applications for multiple environments and must be capable of understanding business requirements, working with end users, and developing and deploying applications on the Snowflake platform.

This role leads technical implementation in large, complex environments and must have a track record of successful customer projects. The role requires knowledge and experience with the Snowflake product suite as well as experience with requirements analysis, application design, development, testing and deployment.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for design, development, testing, maintenance and support activities to Snowflake Data Platform and projects
  • Review and implement Snowflake standards
  • Collaborate with project team for data solutions
  • Develop SQL Scripts and Stored Procedures
  • Develop Unix Shell Scripts.
  • Work on data load issues resolution and reload the data
  • Work on database design.
  • Create DDL scripts for database objects.
  • Create AZDO CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of SQL language and cloud-based technologies
  • Data warehousing concepts, data modeling, metadata management
  • Knowledge of Data lakes, multi-dimensional models, data dictionaries
  • Knowledge of migration to Azure Snowflake platform
  • Understand performance tuning and setting up resource monitors
  • Knowledge of Snowflake modeling - roles, databases, schemas
  • SQL performance measuring, query tuning, and database tuning
  • ETL tools with cloud-driven skills
  • Integration with third-party tools
  • Ability to build analytical solutions and models
  • Coding in languages like Python, Java, JavaScript
  • Root cause analysis of models with solutions
  • Hadoop, Spark, and other warehousing tools
  • Managing sets of XML, JSON, and CSV from disparate sources
  • SQL-based databases like Oracle SQL Server, Teradata, etc.
  • Snowflake warehousing, architecture, processing, administration
  • Data ingestion into Snowflake
  • Enterprise-level technical exposure to Snowflake applications
  • Interprets, identifies, and solves unique and meaningful problems
  • Development of code and procedures affecting hundreds of daily users
  • Leads technical contribution to requirements / story development conversations
  • Ensures thorough technical grooming
  • Communicates complex findings in a structured and clear manner to a non-technical audience (written and verbal) including communication to leadership
  • Follows best practices and standards, identifies gaps and suggests changes
  • Responsible for understanding environmental constraints and planning to mitigate
  • Leads design around performance testing and can performance tune complex environments
  • Works respectfully with all team members, both OneAmerica colleagues and vendor partner team members
  • Provides recommendations for overall enterprise data architecture
  • Synthesize data and strategy to provide clear concise recommendations to the product teams

Job Requirements

Required Education and/or Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related discipline.

Recommended Education and/or Certifications

  • Snowpro Core Certification a plus

Required Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience working with application integration platforms as a developer
  • Experience in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (or comparable tool) developing APIs
  • Expert knowledge of software development methodology
  • Superb communication and coaching skills with the ability to connect with members of the development teams
  • Ability to apply and influence best practices and design patterns for software engineering
  • Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background

Salary Band: 06C

This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, WI, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
