Job Description Summary:
We are looking for a Mid-Level Application Security (AppSec) Engineer to join PayPal's Application Security team in our Austin office.Strong AppSec knowledge and skills are required for this role. The position will be an internal AppSec specialist working with PayPal's global product development teams to ensure PayPal products are designed and developed securely.

Job responsibilities
Help lead AppSec SPLC programs such as the Security Champions program, AppSec Certification program, and numerous companywide security events.
Work with multiple internal teams to ensure products are designed and implemented according to security policies, standards, and best practices.
Promote a culture of security by creating and sharing the vision through presentations, providing incentives, soft influence, and leveraging management support when needed.
Work with product teams to identify and implement product security improvements.
Work with product teams to implement SPLC (Secure Product Life Cycle) and Application Security tools including SAST, DAST, and vulnerability scanning.
Conduct security reviews, secure code reviews, and threat-modeling.
Serve as a critical member in the AppSec Services team and our engagement strategy.
Welcome, onboard and orientate developers within the program. Assist in recruitment activities.
Work as part of the AppSec team using Agile methodologies.
Job requirements
Minimum of 4 years of work experience specializing in Application Security.
Experience facilitating meetings, training or events, and communicating best practices
Experience performing security design reviews, security code reviews, and threat modeling.
Experience working with product development teams to identify and implement security improvements.
Knowledge and Experience with one or more AppSec tools such as SAST, DAST, or IAST.
Knowledge of OWASP top-10 and a deep understanding of web application and mobile app vulnerabilities.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong presentation skills and technical writing skills.
