Applied Microbiologist

Key Responsibilities & Tasks: 

• Conduct experiments and testing to support new product development efforts.
• Perform shelf-life stability testing on pre-commercial/experimental products.
• Collaborate with other internal technical groups to evaluate and present new product concepts to key stakeholders.
• Work closely with production in support of product fermentation scale up from lab to commercial phase.
• May aid in new product formulation work.
• Perform in-house DNA sequencing, and aid in training new individuals in the process, as needed.
• Prepare media aseptically for microbial cultivation.
• Conduct literature reviews and presents options to the team for improving laboratory techniques and test methods.
• Practice good laboratory procedures (GLP) and ensures the laboratory space is kept in a clean and orderly condition.
• Assist in drafting SOPs, projects reports, data analysis and other documents as necessary.

Qualifications & Skills: 

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Microbiology or related field.
• 2 years of laboratory experience or equivalent.
• Product development and screening experience is a nice to have.
