A&R Admin Coordinator
Job Description
The A&R Admin Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of A&R Admin, Masterworks. ThisÂ
position will liaise with the various departments within the Sony Music Masterworks WorldwideÂ
Division and Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inter-Company Accounting, Release Planning,Â
Royalties and Copyrights departments as well as Label Artists, their management and recordingÂ
studios.
- • Communicate with A&R, Business & Legal Affairs, Finance, Marketing, Royalties, Joint VentureÂ
Accounting, and Copyright to properly administer artist contracts, licenses and deals.Â
o Includes administering A&R related budgets and reviewing artist agreements to assessÂ
and enforce contractual obligations with respect to recording
o Assisting with creation of Royalty accounts, as well as Copyright and Joint VentureÂ
issues.
o Liaising with Release Planning to ensure proper subproject code setups
o Helping with Union obligations for any relevant release
o Booking studios and travel for Artist Recording Sessions
• Ensuring all contractual obligations are met by artist and label
• Assisting with any ad-hoc reports needed internally or externally
• Communicate with artist attorneys and managers about contractual issues, vendors, properÂ
payments, tax information
• Assist in handling the “day-to-day”:
o administration of artist recording projects
o creation of recording and marketing budgets (and within the marketing budgets,Â
distinguish between recoupable and non-recoupable marketing costs to ensure properÂ
royalty statement rendering)
o issuance of purchase orders for co-op
o prompt payment of invoices (recording, mastering, advances, overhead, etc)
o reconciliation of BTA card
o Setting up vendors within the Sony system, along with any relevant Artist Portal access
• Tracking projects to ensure proper payment and budgeting.Â
• Working with our various Live Businesses
o Creating yearly budgets for various Live projects
o Billing and Paying expenses for various Live venues across the US
o Meet with various Live groups to ensure proper standings of all financial accounts
- • College Degree
• Be detail oriented, ability to analyze data and troubleshoot effectively.
• Strong computer skills including Excel (including pivot tables, creating and running queries), Word,Â
PowerPoint and Outlook
• Review and understand legal contracts and be comfortable upholding legal standards
• Work well and communicate promptly with different types of people
• Have solid communication, organizational, communication, and follow up skills.
• Be able to work independently, multitask, and manage evolving priorities
