AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Architect for employment in our Norfolk, VA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations
• Preparing specifications, reports, and related data tables
• Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups
• Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required
• Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets
• May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project
• May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel
• Develops solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity working under general supervision
• Exercise independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and use of standard techniques, solve problems when encountered, and receives guidance on projects
• Develops architectural designs to meet project specifications
• Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and working drawings
• Adapts and modifies design features and operational methods to meet a variety of situations
• Prepares architectural reports and design narratives
• Coordinates design activities with other engineering disciplines

Minimum Requirements :

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture plus two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Licensed as a registered architect, preferably in VA
• Experience working with Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop and PowerPoint
• Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications :

• Certification as a LEED Accredited Professional by the USGBC
• Experience with SketchUp Pro, Adobe Creative Suites, or other related graphic software
• Department of Defense experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
• Diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
