Architect - Senior

Your Role

The Senior Technical Architect at Gensler plays an extremely important role in the delivery of design and will be the lead technical resource for multiple studios. It is important that these leaders become well versed in the Gensler design culture, Gensler CAD/Revit platforms, Gensler specifications, Gensler production & construction administration standards, and the Gensler contracts & project management standards.

The Senior Technical Architect will be responsible for guidance, maturation, and development of staff members, as well as the proper deployment of staff to ensure the make-up of each project team suits each individual project's specific needs and requirements.

What You Will Do

• Lead the Technical effort of projects and ensure overall technical quality of work across the office
• Oversee the Quality Assurance Review Process for multiple projects
• Oversee technical aspects of projects to be sure they are in concert with project scope, design, budget, client goals, consultant coordination and core requirements
• Provide mentorship and lead technical educational programs for the office
• Improve the quality of our deliverables and reduce risk
• Improve the efficiency of our document production effort
• Enhance design through strong technical support
• Establish a leadership position and role model for technically oriented staff
• Prepares Project Manuals for select projects
• Oversees the preparation of Project Manuals
• Assists trained Project Team members to prepare project specifications
• Collaborates with Project Managers, Architects, and Designers
• Coordinates scheduling and production of Project Manuals
• Collaborates with Project Teams
• A resource for technical questions and construction administration issues
• A resource for material and product selections
• Participate in Firmwide monthly specification liaisons conference calls

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
• 15+ years of project experience in an architectural practice
• Licensed or registered architect
• CDT certification preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Building Codes (as required for the jurisdictions in which our studio is performing work)
• A minimum of 5 years dedicated to specification writing
• A strong design sensibility which leads to the enhancement of design through the technical innovation and processes
• A strong management sensibility to allow for efficient and systematic incorporation of the Quality Assurance program into the project process
• High level technical skills and experience in Construction Document (Drawing & Specification) Preparation
• Experience in full cycle Bidding & Construction Administration on multiple projects
• Expert knowledge of industry standards & resources
• Experience with AIA/Deltek MasterSpec
• Experience with e-SPECS and Specs Intact software
• You are an educator capable of investing personal time to mentor junior technical staff
• Revit proficiency
• Experience in leading and mentoring multiple project teams in technical delivery concurrently
• Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development
• Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to lead and mentor
• Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships through excellent delivery and technical guidance
• Ability to handle difficult situations with tact, grace, and style
• Collaborative, team-conscious, and detail oriented
