Summary
This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Office of Research Services, Electronic Records Division, which is responsible for accessioning, processing, preserving, and providing access to electronic records in the custody of Research Services. As an archivist in the Reference Branch, you will carry out complex assignments related to providing access to archival electronic records.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. - A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- The work is mostly sedentary, however the incumbent must be physically able to perform the duties of this position. Physical demands may include climbing caster-equipped ladders, maneuvering on catwalks, moving heavy carts of records, and handling boxes of records stored up to 15 feet above the floor and typically weighing 50 pounds, occasionally more. The work may also demand considerable periods of maintaining a stationary position, moving, or otherwise positioning oneself to access objects, equipment, or records located in high and low places.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To be qualified for this position at the GS-09 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience performing basic archival tasks, such as verifying the completeness of a set of records or locating relevant records to answer customer requests; AND
- Experience researching and reporting on archival records; AND
- Experience providing customer service to various audiences through oral and written communication techniques; AND
- Experience utilizing various systems, software, or databases to locate and manage records or complete other tasks.
OR
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (i.e., beyond the first year) of graduate education is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.

Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
