Our singular mission is to help people feel confident in their skin, so we created the first-to-market, custom, 30-minute facial experience to make skincare more accessible, efficient, and effective. Each studio is equipped with expert estheticians who provide professional-grade results at an affordable price-point.
After launching in New York City in 2019, Glowbar has quickly scaled to nine locations in NY and CT, with national expansion on the horizon. As we continue to grow, we aim to maintain the special glow that sets us apart from traditional spas.
About the Role
You’re responsible for leading a team of Studio Managers; you are a leader of leaders who delivers results. You direct a multi-unit portfolio through developing talent pipelines, consistent implementation of operational procedures, providing input to VP Studios on people strategies and executing said strategies, and studio-marketing promotions. You develop a diverse team that knows their markets, communities and clients.
You maintain and develop a group of Studio Managers through the execution of a local market specific strategy in order to achieve each studio’s financial, operational and client experience goals, while addressing each studio’s unique strengths and challenges. You motivate, coach, and strengthen Studio Managers as team leaders, retail operators, and business owners. You are a resource and provide expertise on key client issues, team staffing and management, studio operations and company policies and procedures.

As the Area Manager, you’re hungry for results and work hard (through and with the leaders on your team) to achieve:
- Profitable businesses: achieving labor targets, optimizing schedules by demand to support utilization targets, maximize studio-level EBITDA
- A results-driven environment that holds team members accountable while maintaining a culture where people are motivated to do their best
- A strong pipeline of talent- proactively networking for top talent and maintaining an active pipeline of Studio Manager candidates for all locations
- Exceptional reviews across client experience (NPS scores, Google/Yelp reviews) and brand experience (facilities review scores)
- A dynamic team of managers, who are a mix of new/being developed and experienced/ready to grow
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Meet (and exceed!) revenue targets; drive studio performance against revenue, margin and membership goals
- Closely monitor each studio’s financial performance; analyze and react to business trends to drive traffic, community outreach and build local partnerships; ensure local-marketing is managed proactively and efforts are consistent across each studio
- Establish market-level goals and hold teams accountable to achieving set goals (such as labor utilization estimates and revenue/traffic projections)
- Recruit, train, coach and mentor team of Studio Managers influencing the organization towards exceeding its goals
- Manage a regional budget and guarantee that each studio operates within the budget
- In-studio approach of regular studio visits to maintain a strong pulse on business and talent
- Ensure that Glowbar’s visual and operational standards (including schedule optimization) are maintained at all times; takes swift and appropriate action if/when standards are not met addressing operational problems that arise with solution-oriented actions to drive business forward
- Advocate for studio teams to drive business; partner with cross-functional corporate team members on behalf of studios to find the best possible outcomes
- Uphold Glowbar’s commitment to exceptional client service, ensuring all locations consistently deliver on the brand’s mission of helping people feel confident in their skin
- Guarantee that studios under your supervision adhere to all Glowbar and industry regulations, safety and cleanliness standards
Qualifications
- 7+ years multi-unit management experience in service-based industry (i.e. fitness, restaurant, retail, hotel, salon/spa, etc.) with strong track record of success in store operations and team leadership
- Proven track record of success in driving retail level margins and disciplined expense management
- Impressive management style with demonstrated success inspiring teams to achieve (and exceed!) goals; fostering a high-performing team
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, providing exceptional hospitality
- Must be a forward-thinking problem-solver with a strong work ethic who has compassion for employees and clients; obsessed with providing best-in-class hospitality
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; strong attention to detail
- Highly motivated and results-oriented, resourceful and creative
- Strong understanding of retail operations, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task within a fast-paced environment
- Desire to learn and try new things every day!
- Passion for beauty, skincare and taking care of people preferred
- Must have the flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule - must have weekend, holiday, and early morning/midday/late evening weekday availability
- Ability to travel locally from studio-to-studio approx 80% of the time
