Armed School Security Guard

JOB OVERVIEW We are seeking a highly qualified Armed Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors at a school in Washington State. The ideal candidate must be a retired law enforcement officer or an honorably discharged military veteran with a combat Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). This role requires maintaining a secure environment, responding to emergencies, and upholding safety protocols with professionalism and vigilance. Key Responsibilities: • Patrol and Monitor:Conduct regular patrols of school premises, including buildings, grounds, and parking areas, to deter and detect potential security threats. • Access Control:Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification, and ensure only authorized individuals access the facility. • Emergency Response:Respond swiftly and appropriately to security incidents, emergencies, or threats, including active shooter scenarios, following established protocols. • Conflict De-escalation:Use verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts or disruptive behavior, ensuring a safe environment for all. • Firearm Management:Carry and maintain a firearm in accordance with Washington State laws and school policies, ensuring proper handling and storage. • Incident Reporting:Document and report all security incidents, suspicious activities, or safety concerns to school administration and law enforcement as required. • Collaboration:Work closely with school staff, local law enforcement, and emergency services to coordinate safety measures and response plans. • Safety Training:Assist in conducting safety drills (e.g., lockdowns, evacuations) and provide guidance to students and staff on security procedures. Qualifications: • Required Experience: • Retired law enforcement officer (e.g., police officer, sheriff’s deputy) with a minimum of [X] years of active service, OR • Honorably discharged military veteran with a combat MOS (e.g., infantry, military police, special forces). • Certifications and Licenses: • Valid Washington State armed security guard license. • Valid concealed carry permit as required by Washington State law. • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED (preferred). • Skills and Abilities: • Strong situational awareness and decision-making under pressure. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for de-escalation and collaboration. • Proficiency in firearm handling, safety, and marksmanship. • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations. • Education:High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in security or law enforcement preferred. • Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and respond physically to emergencies if needed. • Background Check:Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and fingerprinting, as required by Washington State law. Additional Requirements: • Must comply with all federal and Washington State laws regarding firearm possession and use. • Familiarity with school safety protocols and active shooter response training (e.g., ALICE, Run-Hide-Fight). • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive information. Work Environment: • The position involves working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. • May require working evenings, weekends, or special events as needed. • Must wear a professional uniform and maintain a neat appearance.
