Art Director

We are currently looking for a talented Art Director to help lead a newly developing creative team at Contentful. The ideal candidate will have both agency and in-house experience, building out conceptual marketing work for content, events, and cross-functional campaigns.

• Create concepts and build various outputs for marketing forms start to finish
• Art direct designers across a wide variety of mediums; digital, print, ads, events, web experiences, and more.
• Review designers’ work, provide clear, timely and actionable direction and feedback
• Review design work daily from internal team and agencies via Slack, email, and JIRA
• Work with Creative Director and project management to define new processes or improve existing ones
• Convey ideas from initial strategy in thoughtful decks and presentations to stakeholders
• Attend strategic and tactical meetings to develop creative strategies 
• Inspire creative team members daily to be diligent, progressive, and inventive
• Research and uncover new ways to incorporate emerging and new media formats into client work and campaigns with trends, technologies, and best practices
• Collaborate with writers, UX/UI designers, brand lead and other creative positions
• Work with product marketing and content team to create storyboards for video and animation projects
• Work cross functionally with the content team, campaign leaders, events managers, and other stakeholders throughout the company
• Quarterly travel to Contenful’s hub in Denver may be required

• 5+ years in an art director or manager role, leading teams of experienced designers within a similar marketing setting
• 10+ years in design roles
• A portfolio of well excited, impactful projects that you worked on from start to finish
• Hands-on working design skills in addition to experience directing larger multidisciplinary design teams 
• A strong background in graphic design, typography, illustration, storytelling, motion, video and similar disciplines
• Experience juggling multiple projects and working with team members to hit competing deadlines
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback to move the team and their work forward
• Curious about problems and ways to solve them
• Ability to create new ideas based off supplied strategies
• Comprehensive working knowledge of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite
• Stellar communication and presentation skills
• Familiarity with JIRA is a plus
