CONTEXT


We're looking for an Art Director to join our In-House Creative Agency as we continue to build Back Market’s mission-driven brand across the globe. Candidates are expected to work a hybrid work arrangement, committing to a minimum of two days per week on-site (Manhattan - Union Square). Due to a need for work during overlapping time zones with France, we are looking for candidates who currently reside in the NY Tri-State area.


WHAT IS THE ROLE?


Join our growing In-House Creative Agency as an Art Director, and the first member of our dedicated Performance Marketing team. You'll collaborate within an international team, including working with overseas colleagues and your manager. Key to success in this role are strong design craft and direct-to-consumer marketing skills, a deep understanding of consumer audiences and behaviors, exceptional fluency and creation skills in the social media space, strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously.


Your specialization will be in graphic design, social media design, and brand communications, working on projects from the initial concept to the final product delivery. Under the supervision of our Senior Lead Art Director, you will support our global Marketing team and cross-functional partners in creating high-craft creativity that resonates around the globe.



Example projects you may work on include:Ā 

- Creating and executing direct-to-consumer, business-driving communications that bring our mission and product to life across channels, countries, and culture

- Creating assets with a high level of design craft and art direction across different performance and growth channels including website, social, and app

- Extending visual systems/brand guidelines across digital channels, drawing upon user research and analytics data and to translate them into engaging design solutions.

- Co-developing ownable design systems for specific storytelling purposes that can be repeated and evolved over time

- Crafting paid social media content that engages with the pulse of culture, and lives naturally alongside organic, user-generated contentĀ 

- Serving as protector and champion of our visual brand across all global assets

- Partnering with external creators including designers, illustrators, animators, filmmakers, builders, and more

- Co-building the company’s first-ever dedicated performance marketing creative team and working closely with our Operations and Production teams to institutionalize best practices and collaborative processes

  • To execute a high level of craft and a deep level of understanding of digital marketing and to design across different performance and social channels
  • To understand iterative testing and optimization and how to amplify designs and templates to meet these needs.
  • To lead, elevate and optimize our performance marketing efforts
  • To respond to a wide variety of briefs from targeted sales-drivers to brand-storytelling with an equal level of commitment and excellence
  • Help take Back Market’s mission to ā€œdo more with what we already haveā€ into the future via groundbreaking creativity
  • Help transform Back Market into a household name that’s widely recognized, trusted, and admired
  • Be an ambassador, executor and guardian of the Brand Visual design and uphold our high standards
  • Elevate Back Market’s social media presence via both visual and content
  • Contribute to the development of methods for scaling design systems and building campaigns
  • Collaborate with external partners as needed to ensure excellent design execution.

YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE IF YOU HAVE: ⭐

  • Must currently reside in the NY Tri-State area, able to work a hybrid work schedule, and authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.Ā 
  • Ability to understand and apply complex Brand Guidelines effectively
  • Extensive knowledge and interest in various creative fields (Typography, Photography, Illustration, Fashion, Cinema, etc)
  • A friendly, enthusiastic, collaborative and ego-free attitudeĀ 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating technical craft and creative edge
  • A keen eye for detail, specifically in typography (e.g., spotting poor kerning)Ā 
  • Strong initiative in proposing powerful visual concepts and ideas
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with an international team
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)and native social media platform design tools/capabilities
  • Basic knowledge of Figma, 3D software, animation, and/or web design (a plus but not mandatory)

This position has an estimated annual base salary range of $90,000 to $113,000, plus opportunities for equity. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors. We welcome direct conversations with each candidate about compensation in all of our initial calls.
