AS400 Computer Operator - remote (part time/weekends)

As we continue to expand, we're looking for a skilled Computer Operator to join our technical team and support our operational functions.

Job Summary:
This is a part-time, remote role (approximately 25 hours per week). This position requires experience with AS400 IBMi, with Linux knowledge as a plus. The Computer Operator will provide first-line support for operational issues, monitor system and application jobs, manage profile creation and deletions, perform system backups and IPLs, and escalate issues to our programming team when needed. Responsibilities may also include limited network monitoring and basic troubleshooting.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Work in a 24/7/365 environment, including weekends and holidays.
• Complete routine tasks and observe daily and nightly processing.
• Manage all production job scheduling requests for the assigned shift.
• Review and maintain operating standards with team members and supervisor.
• Perform tape library functions, problem management, help desk tasks, and documentation.
• Identify and document scheduling and processing issues related to software and hardware malfunctions.
• Monitor performance and production status and report as needed.
• Ensure timely completion of all processing requirements to meet SLAs and customer expectations.
• Follow escalation procedures as necessary.
• Participate in daily shift turnover meetings with team members.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Experience in an operations center environment.
• Familiarity with IBMi / Power systems (formerly AS400) - MUST TO HAVE.
• Experience with Help/Systems ROBOT software is a plus.
• Strong understanding of operating system principles, concepts, and standards.
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to collect data and resolve routine issues.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong multitasking abilities and project management skills.
• Facilitation and change management skills.
• Experience with IBM HMC hardware and managing tape libraries.
