Ericsson is looking for an energetic, dedicated, and experienced System Debug Engineer who will lead the debug and resolve ASIC system level issues to ensure product quality. You will work closely with the other engineering functions in Austin and Sweden as the design takes shape at the IP, ASIC, and system level. This will ensure the final ASIC achieves the program goals and continues to build out our capability as we compete with the best in the world to maintain our leadership position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the debug of system and ASIC issues across multiple IP and system domains found within the product during pre-silicon, bring-up, validation, and production phases
  • Providing root cause analysis, documentation, and direction for closure of issues
  • Providing recommendations to productization teams on how to shift-left finding of the issue
  • Leading collaborative technical discussions to drive resolution on technical issues
  • Defining and performing Debug IP functional test plans and validation strategies
  • Providing requirements for ASIC Design-for-Debug features, platform, firmware, and other tools to facilitate debug
  • Driving technical innovations in order to improve Ericsson's capabilities in ASIC debug, including debug tool and script development as well as technical and methodology improvements
  • Guiding and mentoring junior team members through complex debug processes

Requirements

  • Minimum 15-20 years of proven experience with debugging complex ASIC system issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge with system level architecture, hardware, and software, including interactions, with proven ability to apply this understanding to debug and root cause issues
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly
  • Extensive experience with system, ASIC, and platform-level debug, including experience with industry standard busses such as DDR, Ethernet, CPRI, JESD, PCIe, I2C, I3C, SerDes, etc.
  • Knowledge and use of standard debuggers, programmers, and related tools and methodologies (JTAG, Lauterbach, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Python, and other scripting languages
  • Knowledge of Unix and Linux operating system architecture
  • Shown success in working across geographies and multi-functional teams
  • Shown success in technical leadership and mentoring
  • Ability to communicate status of complex issues to a wide range of technical and non-technical leaders.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and pronounced attention to details
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excel in a dynamic team working environment
  • Self-starter, strong collaborator, and able to independently drive tasks to completion, drive highly ambiguous tasks

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with radio network architecture
  • Experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience with reading and understanding board schematics and PCB layouts
  • Experience with Linux SysLog debug
  • Exposure to and experience with hardware emulators and debug concepts
  • Knowledge of C and C++
