Job Description:
The main purpose of this position is to manage day-to-day responsibilities associated with supporting customer specific material planning engagements including but not limited to purchase order placement, expediting, deferring and general order management responsibilities. In addition, the asset specialist will build supplier relationships by engaging in negotiations, identifying and managing material shortages, and holding suppliers accountable to delivery commitments and past due orders. The asset specialist will also function as a key liaison between the customer care center and supplier network.
What You'll Be Doing
- Forecast Management: Review, analyze and interpret demand to determine requirements based on material availability, inventory levels and lead times. May be responsible for scheduling and leading internal forecast meetings. Proactively seek customer forecast data.
- Pipeline Management / Expediting: Assume a leadership role in identifying new processes which will maximize the value of each purchase consistent with company requirements and order policies and procedures to achieve a balance between functional productivity, quality, quantity, delivery, cost, and inventory management. Initiate appropriate paperwork to advance, delay or cancel previously scheduled materials and strive to control inventory levels, while supporting customer requirements. Enter purchase orders and secure fulfillment of contract terms. Seek opportunities to train team members in pipeline management / expediting. Lead the materials team effort to coordinate supplier requirements and action plans with other departments. Manage the escalation process to notify suppliers of changes in requirements. Research alternatives and develop "out of the box" solutions when schedule changes or delays are identified. Seek opportunities to interface with the customer regarding various details of specific program activities as they pertain to planning and procurement
- Professional Relationship: Assume a leadership role as a liaison between materials and associated departments working cross functionally on corporate objectives.
- Inventory Management: Seek opportunities to resolve complex situations with our suppliers, other company departments, and team members related to selection of sources, contract terms, price, deliveries, specifications, quality, and quantity variations while remaining within company inventory guidelines. Seek opportunities to assist other team members with problem resolution. Analytical skills required to read and interpret component specifications and to perform cost/price analysis.
- Supplier Relationship: Take a leadership role communicating between all functional areas including the supplier base. Demonstrate proven communication skills with all levels of the company as well as suppliers and customers, as required through personal contact, telephone conversations, and self-composed written documents and presentations. Requires no supervision of written or verbal communications. Seek opportunities to take a leadership role as the liaison between company and suppliers in the new component definition phase. May be called on to act as department lead in selecting sources of supply, communication of price and contract terms, request for proposal / quotations, and discuss / transmit contract and technical requirements and specifications and ascertain supplier's ability to fulfill commitments. Evaluate current and potential sources of supply and work toward strengthening our supplier base.
- Strategy / Action Planning: Seek opportunities to lead teams in the Identification of opportunities for improvement and implementation of changes that have a positive impact on the business. Assist in the selection of new suppliers and promote long-term supplier relationships. Provide information and assist supply chain management with requirements planning. Perform analysis of purchasing and planning activities to assist purchasing management in developing a more efficient and effective organization. Take a leadership role in the training and development of other team members. Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and techniques that will simplify the purchasing and planning function. Work with the suppliers and other functional areas to identify cost reduction opportunities and makes recommendations. Lead and direct team members in the tasks and accomplishments required to meet departmental and company strategies.
- Functional Knowledge - Applies procedures and concepts within own technical subject area which are often learned through college level courses or specific work experience.
- Business Expertise - Basic understanding of how own area integrates within the sub function (such as a function within a business unit). Work closely relates to other branches or departments and they must understand how the job relates to achieving the objectives of the sub function (departments within a division).
- Leadership - Actively provides on-the-job training to new team members. Pro-actively engages suppliers.
- Problem Solving- Makes sound judgments based on practice and precedence. Assesses alternatives based on knowledge and experience in selecting the best approach.
- Interpersonal Skills - Developed communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex and/or sensitive information.
What We Are Looking For
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Supply Chain degree or certifications, a plus
- Technical training and work experience
- Must have the ability to work in high-pressure situations
- Problem solving ability, a must
- Must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate both internally and with customers

Annual Hiring Range/Hourly Rate:
$71,500.00 - $88,000.00
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
