Assistant Content & Social Media Manager

As the Assistant Content & Social Media Manager, you will help execute Viam's social media strategy, specifically within content development, production and scheduling. Robots and what they can do running on Viam is compelling and cool source material, and you will be critical in bringing our story to life. We have limitless possibilities to leverage social media to drive awareness of the potential of robotics. 

This candidate is knowledgeable about social channels, has a creative eye, and is proficient at editing content (especially video) in a social-first manner. This person will work closely with and learn about all aspects of marketing from the entire marketing team. This person will also work closely with Viam’s developer advocates, who help with our social content creation, cross-functionally with the product team, and report to the Senior Social Strategist.

• Creating engaging and visually appealing social media posts and stories, including copywriting and shooting/selecting relevant imagery and videos.
• Creating quick-turn, reactive content for opportunistic moments in culture and social media.
• Collaborating with marketing, product, and people teams to create impactful content.
• Crafting copy and video scripts in alignment with Viam's tone of voice.
• Scheduling and posting content across platforms.
• Evolving or redeveloping content following feedback from internal stakeholders.
• Taking part in brainstorms with key team members for content planning across channels.
• Identifying and presenting real-time and cultural opportunities for the brand to jump on.
• Staying up-to-date with developments in social media, trends, and technology to share opportunities with the team. 

• 1-2 years of experience in social media content creation and management, with previous agency/brand background preferred.
• Extraordinary skills in video creation, shooting, and editing (on desktop and mobile devices).
• Comfortability learning new editing treatments and software.
• Proficiency with design and editing tools, such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Splice, etc.
• Awareness of what's happening in social media and culture. 
• An understanding of social media best practices. 
• Curiosity and drive to take creative tasks from ideation to completion, including learning new approaches to achieve the desired results.
• An affinity for big ideas and taking risks.
• Confidence to voice their professional opinion when it conflicts with leadership.

The starting salary for this role is between $60,000 - $80,000/year. Your exact offer will vary based on a number of factors including experience level, skillset, market location, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced, or more senior, than this job description as posted. In these situations, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
