Assistant Controller

Wight & Company, an award-winning, integrated architecture, engineering, and construction firm with offices in Chicago and Darien, Illinois, has an immediate opportunity in our Darien office for an accounting professional who is interested in an environment that’s fun, fast-paced, and rewarding.  We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team in our Darien location!

Responsibilities:

• Financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Forecasting
• Working with external auditors
• Analyze and review revenue and costs of projects on a monthly basis working with project managers and project accountants.
• Perform reconciliations between accounting software and supporting documentation.
• Mentor accounting staff
• Partner with the CFO, managers and accounting staff to utilize technology to automate manual accounting tasks and improve processes efficiency.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy required.
• CPA preferred.
• Knowledge of CMiC Accounting Software preferred.
• 5+ years accounting experience in auditing or internal accounting required.
• Previous experience implementing, maintaining and enhancing financial systems is preferred.
• A sense of humor

Strong technology skills are critical, particularly expertise with Microsoft Excel.
