Assistant Controller

Overview: Mallory Alexander International Logistics, a global third-party logistics company (3PL) headquartered in Memphis, TN has an immediate opening for an Assistant Controller at our corporate office. This position is onsite; standard business hours are Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations, fixed asset management, and prepaid asset management
• Prepare month-end journal entries, including depreciation, prepaids and accruals
• Prepare financial statements to summarize the company’s financial status
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports
• Produce and manage balance sheets
• Assist with management of accounting, auditing and budgeting within the organization
• Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records
• Work with the company financial team to create and implement internal controls, policies and procedures
• Assist with related special projects, as required

Qualifications               

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
• Highly skilled in math, accounting and financial processes
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Self-motivated and driven to thrive in a team environment as well as working independently
• Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations

Education and/or Experience                                                  

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• Experience in a public accounting firm strongly preferred
• Accounts Payable management experience helpful but not required
