Job Scope

The Assistant Controller plays a pivotal role within the Fund Accounting team ensuring accuracy of financials by managing and evolving internal controls, policies, and mechanisms around a fund's financial reporting processes for our growing roster of investment vehicles.

Essential Functions

• Review financial statements and footnotes prepared by our third-party administrators, ensuring consistency with the appropriate reporting framework.
• Prepare and review Quarterly Fund Financial Statements and Capital Account Allocations as well as fee calculations including (but not limited to) management fees, professional fees, and carried interest allocations.
• Prepare schedules for tax accountants and oversee assigned fund financial audits and manage the external audit and tax process.
• Align financials with Fund Partnership Agreements to ensure accurate reporting.
• Analyze agreements between Limited Partners and Investment Managers to ensure funds are operating according to in force agreements.
• Serve as the point of contact with fund managers in fund-related matters and in collaboration with fund managers lead the quarterly valuation process for portfolio companies.
• Review capital activity including capital calls, distributions, and transfers for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with our Operational Accounting team for the review of the management company books
• Provide training and guidance to new and existing team members and participate in the continuous improvement and redesign of existing business processes.
• Ensure the implementation and maintenance of best practices in fund accounting and financial reporting
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field
• Experience: 6+ years of experience within the investment industry, public accounting, or fund administration (PE, VC, Hedge Fund).

Skills

• Fluency in Microsoft and Google Suites, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
• Advanced knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience with Allvue/Alta Return.
• Demonstrated experience managing audits and working with external auditors.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate.
• Demonstrated ability to identify risks and control gaps in processes and successfully deliver process improvement.
• Ability to drive the implementation of new technology.
• Experience working remotely on global teams.
