Assistant Project Accountant

Position Purpose
The Assistant Project Accountant will be responsible for supporting the preparation of project financial data and month end files and reporting for management information. The role works closely with Project Accountants and Project Admin. throughout the lifecycle of Projects, escalating issues, or challenges to the team as appropriate.
Essential Responsibilities / Accountabilities |
Assist with the timely and accurate production of monthly accounts, including variance analysis |
Responsible for period end closing and associated journal entries |
Enhance financial process improvements, working with Information Systems and SME’s |
Assist in project cash flow projections and bad debt analysis |
Preparation of contract review data including project tour dates |
Ensure contract sales are correctly invoiced in a timely manner, including accuracy of project payment schedules and milestones against contracted value |
Assist in inventory management and accurate reporting for management |
Assist in interim and year-end Audit’s: revenue selections, job cost testing and inventory price testing |
Enhance audit process improvements, working across departments to ensure accurate controls |
Assist with the timely and accurate production of monthly accounts, including variance analysis |
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. |
Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.  |
Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company. |

Minimum Qualifications
To perform the essential responsibilities, individuals must have the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination. Additionally, the following certifications, knowledge, skills, or physical requirements are necessary for the position.
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
- Years of Experience: 1-2 years in a similar accounting role.
- Experience with project or management accounting a plus.
- Application/ program Experience: Microsoft Office Suite- especially Excel.
- Experience with EPR systems preferred.
- Experience in the construction or manufacturing industries a plus.

The employee regularly operates a computer, including typing, using a mouse or keyboard, and viewing the screen for extended periods. While the role does not require regular lifting or physical exertion, there may be occasional onboarding programs or training opportunities that create opportunities for more exposure to physical tasks or new environments (sites, venues, etc.)Â
Work conditions of the role are:
- Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
- Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location.
