The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) position serves as the lead DEI expert for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. This role reports to the EVP People & Culture and will be responsible for executing the organization's DEI strategy and promoting an inclusive work culture.
Areas of responsibility include supplier diversity, strategic partnerships, and internal DEI consulting and education. This dynamic leader will bring together their deep DEI experience with their stellar people leadership to help us reinforce and drive a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture across the Bank. The incumbent must be able to build partnerships, collaborate with others within the People & Culture team, and across the Bank to influence change, drive our DEI objectives and deliver results. This Officer level role manages a team of Managers/SME's and will have direct and indirect reports and will be responsible for development of the leaders and staff in their direct and indirect reporting structure.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leverages DEI expertise to provide vision, leadership, strategic direction, and coordination for organization-wide efforts to enhance workplace DEI
  • Provides guidance and consulting to executive management on issues of DEI and collaborate with executive management to create, implement, and monitor programs to ensure fair and equitable treatment of staff
  • Participates on and provides guidance to the Bank's DEI Committee (committee is responsible for gathering feedback and input, and developing, communicating, and implementing DEI initiatives)
  • Partners with L&D team to provide training and development opportunities to strengthen DEI acumen across the Bank
  • Builds strong relationships with Bank, System and external stakeholders
  • Brings various Bank stakeholders - including business line leaders, governance committees, ESNGs, employees and senior executives - together in a coordinated manner to drive DEI results
  • Recognizes both Bank and department level needs and directs programs and initiatives that advance DEI at all levels
  • Works with People Analytics to define, track and report DEI metrics
  • Directs the activities of Bank and System reporting pursuant Congress (Dodd-Frank Act/OMWI), EEOC, the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and other stakeholders
  • Represents the FRBC at external events, participates in Bank and System DEI events and initiatives
  • Collaborates with People & Culture functions to assist with the integration of DEI policies and procedures into all HR practices
  • Provides leadership, oversight, coaching and support to the DEI Team

Your Background
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or experience, knowledge and skills noted below, Master's Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience leading and overseeing a DEI function
  • Ability to prepare and deliver high level reports and presentations to senior leadership
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential functions of the job and the core values of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead inclusively, coach and develop team members
  • Effectively builds partnerships and influences key stakeholders across the organization
  • Leverages strong subjective matter expertise, and considers evolving external factors and future needs when developing strategy
  • Strategic and thoughtful approach to decision making, including ability to resolve complex problems and make decisions in a timely manner while considering the perspective of others
  • Works collaboratively with employees at all levels to provide the best solutions for the organization
  • Demonstrated strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong influencing skills, confidence, and experience with senior leadership
