Associate Account Director/Account Director (commensurate with experience), Business Development

Campbell Ewald is looking to hire an experienced account leader to engage and lead in the new business process with the opportunity to run newly acquired accounts. This strategic, client leader has a strong business acumen, is wildly engaging and strategic, and knows how to win as well as manage a variety of accounts across industries with various scale. This individual is passionate about making good ideas even better, whether they are creative, strategic or logistical. You are the key day-to-day interface between the account group, the client and all other agency departments or affiliated partners. You are solution-oriented, always thinking about the client’s business, anticipating issues, and implementing a vision to produce superior results. This role will be key in instilling enthusiasm amongst clients, our team members and partners.  You will be a natural pollinator sharing information between the client and across all internal teams, creating seamless interactions to ensure we are exceeding service and pitch expectations.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Creativity

  • Develops a vision for each brand / pitch / business – where it needs to go, and how to get there
  • Contribute to growth strategy with an ability to see the big picture and long-term vision for the brands they pitch and support
  • Develops and defends innovative and provocative strategies to solve client’s marketing and communication needs, both in the short and long term
  • Demonstrates excellent creative judgment and inspires creativity in clients and our agency team
  • Nurtures and protects the integrity of the creative idea; takes the creative to new places by partnering with the creative team
  • Looks for and develops customized integrated opportunities for client’s business(es), knowing when and how to bring in new resources in areas beyond the traditional to open new revenue streams 

Financial

  • Understands how the agency makes money: clients, overhead, expenditures, etc., and helps to maximize revenue / growth through new business pitch and organic growth process
  • Brings creative and profitable financial solutions in the best interest of the client and the agency allowing CE to win the business by knowing how to position the sale for a variety of potential client relationships including project and AOR work
  • Improves agency systems to ensure client expectations are fulfilled while agency profitability is protected
  • Strategically builds client relationship and trust while effectively facilitating, negotiating and defining scopes of work

Knowledge & Skills

  • Builds strategic thinking abilities by keeping current on industry trends and issues affecting client’s business while expanding your own perspective and knowledge through collaborating and sharing with other team members
  • Collaborates with Strategic Planners and plays a leadership role in co-creation process to ensure the development of provocative, single-minded communications strategies that deliver against the brands’ overall growth strategy and architecture
  • Synthesizes consumer insights, brand knowledge and marketing know-how to effectively defend and persuade clients to embrace a strong strategic idea and keep it sold
  • Applies principles of marketing and available agency resources to further new business wins and meet business objectives for both the agency and client
  • Provides critical insights during major reviews and provides direction on how to ‘expand’ the brief and solution for further development and plays major role in selling the work.

Relationships / Communication

  • Builds client’s trust, regularly dialoguing with clients on brand and business issues and always finding ways to enhance the client / agency relationship
  • Knows how to deal with difficult clients or situations in a diplomatic and solution-oriented manner

Leadership

  • Takes actions, makes decisions, and shapes team or group priorities to reflect the organization’s vision and values
  • Initiates and implements big-picture thinking, guiding the agency team to produce superior results
  • Leads by example in setting the standard for account team members in work ethic, professionalism, cooperation and organizational commitment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in account management at a variety of agencies
  • Demonstrated financial responsibility and management

At Campbell Ewald we believe in pay equity. The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $140,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on several factors including current/former employees in the position, market considerations, budgetary considerations, background, relevant experience and qualifications and location.
