Associate Account Manager, E&E News

The Account Manager is an integral part of the E&E News Existing Business team and is responsible for the overall management, retention, and growth of accounts within our existing book of business. E&E News is seeking someone who can focus on providing high-quality customer service while driving revenue through upsells and renewals and developing an understanding of our products, business, strategy, and role in the market.

A large part of the position will involve identifying and capitalizing on opportunities as well as recognizing where there are concerns or trouble areas within accounts and navigating the process of overcoming those issues.

A successful candidate will have strong organizational and analytical skills with an ability to communicate professionally and proficiently about our value and educate clients about the benefits of our services and convey the extent of our presence, strengths, and coverage in the market. They will also be proactive and aggressive in their efforts to maximize our foothold and revenue within our business.

What You'll Do:

• Manage and maintain a volume of 200+ clients and accounts by providing customer service and client success during renewal conversations and upsell opportunities
• Conduct product walk-throughs with existing and new users to add value to their subscriptions during renewal conversations and various other points
• Grow accounts and research organizations through upselling and additional opportunities in the market
• Help transition clients from new subscribers to long term readers as accounts are inherited from our New Business team

How You'll Do It:

• Maintain client relationship by responding to requests/inquiries, preparing for and following up with renewal information, gathering feedback, and keeping clients informed on product updates
• Manage the health of the account by monitoring usage statistics and taking action when the numbers look low
• Employ a results-oriented customer-service work ethic that renews a $1-2M+ contract pool to 90%+ renewal retention
• Identify where there is an opportunity for upsell and growth through additional readers and/or services via incoming requests and individual research
• Maintain pipeline through Salesforce and update manager across various stages of the sales cycle

What You'll Need:

• 1+ year of professional experience, including internship and externship roles
• A./B.S. preferred
• Strong client service ethic
• Experience working in a team environment
• Sales or fundraising experience
• Ability to communicate effectively by e-mail and phone with executives
• Experience thinking through problems creatively
• Attention to detail
• Proven experience managing multiple, competing priorities
• Ability to take initiative on projects and through customer service interactions
