If so, consider joining Principal's Finance and Accounting team supporting our Real Estate Investor's business as an Associate Accountant. This position is an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative environment and provide analytical accounting support for asset portfolios.
You'll work on portfolios of commercial Real Estate investments! The Associate Accountant is involved in all aspects of the Real Estate investment cycle, from property acquisition, to ongoing oversight and reporting, to disposition. This position works closely with third party property managers and Real Estate teams to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Below are few examples of responsibilities:
- Interact regularly with the RE Asset and Portfolio Management teams and third-party property managers to provide explanations, data and support for property performance
- Prepare and record journal entries for property acquisitions, dispositions, and financing in accordance with US GAAP
- Review real estate property financial statements in compliance with SOX controls and other established procedures
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances
- Review property budgets
- Prepare schedules for use by auditors and tax preparers
Who You Are
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience required
- Critical thinking, process improvement, strong communication skills, agility, and self-motivation are key.
Success Profile: The successful candidate will demonstrate self-awareness, a desire for ongoing self-development and be comfortable interacting at various levels of the organization. Additionally, the preferred candidate will be thoughtful and support our team's operational improvement activities.
Work Environments
This role offers in-office, and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), work arrangements in our Des Moines IA office. You'll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$20.84 - $39.81 / hour
Time Off Program
Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.
