Associate Accountant - Monroe, NC

SUMMARY:

This position will train under the Plant Accountant at the Monroe Poultry Plant to gain experience in Poultry Plant Accounting.

The training includes experience in Complex and/or Plant Accounting operations related to the Monroe Complex and/or related areas. This role will prepare the team member for an Accounting position within our Operations Accounting area, with financial closing and reporting responsibilities, supervisory responsibilities, and an opportunity to learn the business from all aspects of operations. This position will learn and become responsible for variance analysis as it relates to operations including labor, yields, material usage, overhead, and absorption with eventual training towards comprehensive support working towards continual improvement of day-to-day operations with a keen focus on meeting deadlines as well as supporting the financial closing and reporting responsibilities. The successful candidate must have a strong knowledge of accounting principles, strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with others.

Responsibilities:

Duties will be determined and assigned based on the immediate need at the facility with the growth of the successful candidate in mind. The position will assist with Ad hoc management reports and projects as they arise. The position will have the potential to interact with Tyson Team Members across the organization and with various members of Tyson vendors and customers. The expectation is that the successful candidate will be able to move into a plant accountant role at a Tyson facility at the end of two years if the opportunity is available.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

Experience: 6+ month’s work experience preferred, but not required.

Computer Skills: Requires standard computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office apps. SAP experience will be a plus.

Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal skills.

Special Skills: Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment; using good judgement to complete tasks; ability to set priorities and coordinate with others.

Supervisory: None

Travel: 25%-50% trips per year
