Associate Actuary, Fixed Annuities

LOCATION

Richmond, VA (open to remote work from home arrangement)

YOUR ROLE

Calculating and holding appropriate reserves and projecting future cash flows is crucial to Genworth's ability to ensure it will be able to pay benefits to our policyholders when they need them the most, now and in the future. This role supports the actuarial department by overseeing the valuation and key projections processes related to the fixed deferred annuity block. As an associate actuary, you will be responsible for reviewing tasks to calculate the block's reserves, being involved in key projection processes, leading projects and supporting the fixed annuity leader in other capacities.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the preparation, analysis, and review of valuation and projections results in a controlled environment
• Prepare summaries of results and explanations around the drivers of business results
• Peer review annual statement information
• Peer review AXIS model and database changes, following established governance standards
• Support process improvements; including new regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and financial reporting controls.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate of the Society of Actuaries or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of actuarial experience
• Knowledge of annuity products
• Knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Tax financial reporting requirements
• Knowledge of key projection processes such as OBV/EC, CFT, Multi-Year Plan, etc.
• Knowledge of actuarial systems (GGY-AXIS) and MS-Office software
• Team player and demonstrated leadership skills
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities in an organized manner
• Detail-oriented and hands-on, with strong problem solving and analytical skills

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of LDTI, Fair Value, or IFRS is a plus
