The Actuarial Student will be responsible for building the foundation for market intelligence and rate analysis for Group LTD, STD, Life, and similar products. This individual will develop new processes and perform quality analysis that will drive improvements to pricing methodologies. This role will work closely with the pricing Actuaries as well as with underwriting, sales, and compliance on pricing changes, market intelligence analysis, and regulatory filings. The Actuarial Student must develop a thorough understanding of pricing practices, competitive developments in the marketplace, and available industry surveys that impact the products' pricing.

This role is part of the OA Actuarial Student Program and requires successful completion of requirements to earn the FSA designation in order to remain with the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop process and foundation for experience analysis and assumptions with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Provide market and experience insights on Employee Benefits products with actionable results.
  • Collaborate with other Actuaries and functional areas on related experience analysis and process improvement endeavors.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance tools for partners to leverage in understanding risk and our financial results.
  • Contribute to the participation of various external industry surveys with communication of the reports.
  • Participate in streamlining our process that enables a quicker path to reporting monthly financial results with a solid knowledge of the key drivers.
  • Communicate results of analysis that promotes understanding and action with our business partners.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Preferred majors: actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
  • ASA or near-ASA is preferred.
  • Effective problem solver, detail-oriented, strong communication and collaboration skills, responsive, and proactively seek alignment and efficiency.
  • Ability to exhibit energy, be energizing to others, bring an edge to the team, be execution focused, and have demonstrated passion for both their work and that of their team.
  • Any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Salary Band: 04C

This selected candidate will be expected to work Hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, WI, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
