The Associate Application Sales Specialist, Solar will provide technical expertise to support Valmont’s growing Ag solar business. The Individual Contributor role will be responsible for pre-sales and post-sales activities related to the application of Valley Ag Solar Product. This position will serve as a primary technical customer contact and will work closely with the Sales, Marketing, and Design Engineering teams to support business growth. This position will work in the application sales team supporting Water Delivery products with focus on solar. Within the support role, there will be solar designs, logistics, warranty and sales support. This role will mainly support the Valley Dealer Network for application and pricing functions. The role will work with end user customers and power companies, to help ensure a successful project. 

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the NA America Water Delivery Manager and has no direct or indirect reports
  • Support Sales and Marketing organization in preparing and presenting technical material to external stakeholders on the company’s products and services
  • Assisting the sales team in promoting solar energy products and solutions to potential customers and dealers,
  • Preparing sales presentations, proposals, and quotes for solar energy systems.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and Valmont’s engineering teams in problem solving and technical expertise
  • Provide general technical support to customers, dealers, and sales team members
  • Gaining expertise in solar energy products and systems, including photovoltaic (PV) panels, inverters, mounting systems, and energy storage solutions.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Provides input to Business Line Management and Product Management teams on product improvements and new product developments
  • Coordinates customer and dealers visits & meetings, provide agendas and ensures appropriate personnel participate
  • Participating in training programs to enhance knowledge of solar technology and sales techniques.
  • Assisting in training new team members or customers on solar solutions.
  • Design solar system per utility company guidelines and code
  • Performs other departmental duties as required
  • Travels (15%-20%) into the field, to provide technical sales support and training to support sales efforts as needed

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years relevant experience.
  • Customer focused with client liaison experience
  • Ability to present technical topics in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely present information to management and customers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use sound judgment in decisions in order to gain customer satisfaction, at the same time protecting the company interest
  • High comfort level with interpersonal interaction and interfacing with customers
  • The ability to organize and manage multiple, simultaneous priorities

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • Experience with ground mounted solar systems and trackers
  • Strong understanding of solar energy systems and components.
  • Experience with Solar one-line diagrams
