Based out of Hilo, HI, Shaka Tea is a line of herbal teas brewed with sustainably sourced māmaki leaves only found in the Hawaiian Islands. Simply put, each herbal tea sold directly supports the preservation of native ecosystem habitats and the direct livelihood of small, local farmers across rural Hawai'i.
Shaka Tea is growing rapidly, sharing our herbal teas with consumers looking for great tasting, better-for-you hydration with zero sugar, zero calories, and zero carbs, complementing mindful eaters everywhere.
About the Role
The Associate Brand Manager role works closely with the Marketing Director to support and execute the marketing strategy for the Shaka Tea Beverage portfolio of branded products. This broad role supports the base business needs of the Shaka Tea Beverage business but will also assist with the execution of marketing communication initiatives and opportunistic new product development/innovation initiatives. Consequently, this role provides exposure to many facets of the business and requires experience across a range of brand management and marketing capabilities.
Core responsibilities and duties :
- Generates brand and business-building ideas, and makes recommendations regarding product objectives and strategy, positioning, and product lifecycle.
- Reviews opportunities and risks to identify business opportunities and makes recommendations to optimize plans.
- Applies consumer insights, assesses trends, and reviews competitive data and market performance data to gain an understanding of consumer, customer, competitive environment, and channel needs to drive growth for the brand and beverage product line.
- Completes business analyses by product line, SKU, and sales region and shares out relevant monthly/quarterly reviews and ad-hoc analyses in coordination and collaboration with Sales and Sales Ops teams.
- Supports the Marketing Director on new product development/innovation projects with development and management of competitive and trend analyses, consumer research, financial and operational forecasting and budgeting, and innovation pipeline execution.
- In partnership with the Creative team (external agency and/or internal creative resource), manages Shaka Tea's organic social media strategy, ideating, executing, and tracking the performance of creative content to drive organic brand engagement.
- Supports the Marketing Director to execute key marketing communications campaigns to drive brand awareness, trial, and share growth. Participates in marketing communication agency relationships. Manages marketing campaign performance tracking against pre-determined metrics.
- Ensures Shaka Tea shows up with a consistent brand-led look, feel, and tone of voice across consumer-facing touchpoints.
- Aids in the development of sales sell-in materials to demonstrate Shaka Tea's product positioning and product features and benefits to meet the needs of the consumer.

- Time Management: Effectively handles workload by prioritizing and managing multiple assignments. Demonstrates a sense of urgency to drive impact.
- Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively across the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and syndicated data platforms: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and IRI, SPINS, or Nielsen.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 15% of the time to Shaka Tea headquarters in Hilo, Hawaii, Shaka Tea's co-manufacturer location, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience; CPG/Food and Beverage preferred.
- An understanding of how to read and interpret data from syndicated sources such as IRI, SPINS, or Nielsen, and proprietary sources such as consumer research.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience working on/with food and/or beverage categories.
- MBA.
- P&L fluency.
- Innovation/new product development experience or exposure.
- Marketing communications experience or exposure.
Compensation:
- $ 115,000-$120,000 annual salary, eligible for an annual bonus up to 10% of annual salary.
