As an Associate Buyer for Curaleaf, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day purchasing activities that drive the strategic goals of the organization: increased sales / margin, inventory management, and a world-class patient experience. We want you to be curious about all aspects of the business as the Associate Buyer will be responsible for forecasting sales, placing orders, and identifying new opportunities. You will learn all about different product categories, various strain offerings, and help Curaleaf develop a world class assortment architecture. We want you to be organized as the role will work extensively with dispensary operations, new product commercialization, marketing, sales, operations, and with 3rd party product providers across the region. We want you to be passionate about problem solving – using your skills with excel, tableau, and various data analytics platforms to find solutions that will enhance our business. You will work closely with vendors to build strong relationships that will produce lasting partnerships & favorable business interests for Curaleaf. This role will report into the structure managed by a Regional Director of Assortment Planning.Â
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates purchasing strategies that tie to financial goals of each dispensary, state, and region
- Works with store operations team to craft localized assortments and sales forecasts to drive profitability
- Develops strong relationships with suppliers of cannabis products to ensure consistent access to product for our patients
- Responsible for managing the full lifecycle of buying: product innovation, vendor meetings, costing negotiations, executive reporting, pricing analysis, promotional calendars, and product exit strategies
- Builds reports to enhance decision making at all levels of the organization. Reports will include: best sellers, promotional expectations, and dispensary performance
- Audit purchasing processes to create “best in class” behaviors
- Understands the competitive landscape and identifies opportunities for Curaleaf brands and products
- Manage appropriate inventory levels to ensure dispensaries can exceed sales expectations
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Curious, passionate, and scrappy – we wear multiple hats
- Experience in buying, merchandising, supply chain, and/or assortment decision making
- Strong presentation skills and ability to listen
- Self-motivated, driven, and comfortable working autonomously with little oversightÂ
- Ability to make decisions under pressure
- Must be a self-starter who likes to solve complex problems
- Solutions based team member
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Tableau (preferred)
- Ability to gather / analyze data and to work with incomplete information
- Comfortable in both creative & analytical situations
