What You'll Do

Principal Retirement Income Services is searching for Associate Client Transition Specialist talent to lead and coordinate the on-boarding and transition process on mid-size to large, more complex Single Premium cases. You'll coordinate the writing of Single Premium contract and certificates and communicate with marketers, employers, and consultants through written and oral communication. You'll also, serve as the liaison between the underwriters, administration, legal and, actuarial teams and assist in the training of new personnel and the education of Single Premium administration employees.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Coordinate with the data managers to ensure that first payments are made on time for retired members and records are built to cover deferred members, as required under the contract. Serve as the liaison between data managers, underwriters and PRT administration areas. Review the contract specifications and assumptions to ensure that they match the pension plan and comply with government regulations. Prepare the contracts and related schedules and submit them to the employer for review and execution. Complete the implementation of each case in a timely fashion so certificates are issued to all members, accounting records are balanced to the sold case information, and commissions and fees are paid as quickly as possible. Troubleshoot and solve problems in a tactful manner and effectively handle difficult, complex or sensitive situations.
  • Provide high quality service to help promote Principal's single premium expertise to industry consultants, marketers, and customers. Ability to interpret complex pension plan benefit provisions and payout calculations for the Single Premium contracts; including but not limited to ERISA regulations, taxation and pension risk transfer (PRT) administrative functions. Continuously work to establish Principal's name in the industry as a progressive, flexible, and high-quality provider of Single Premium products. Proactively build and maintain positive relationships with consultants, marketers and customers to encourage growth in revenue and ensure repeat/new opportunities to bid on their business.
  • Mentor and develop new transition employees by providing work direction and technical advice. Provide technical knowledge and assistance to the Single Premium administration employees. Assist with developing or modifying procedures and systems where changes are needed to maintain or improve customer service needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years work experience with defined benefits or pension risk transfer (PRT)
  • Understanding of government regulations, plan termination rules, and administrative procedures
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Suite experience, especially Excel

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$51000 - $98400 / year

Location

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
