We're looking for an Associate Counsel, Privacy to support our cross-functional compliance efforts and the rapid growth we are experiencing in the US and abroad. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Product & Privacy, this junior position will be critical to our ability to scale Maven's unique virtual care model while adhering to applicable privacy regulations. We need a forward-thinking, collaborative and optimistic team member who can help us solve the many complex issues that surface working across different healthcare populations while managing hyper-growth.

As Associate Counsel, Privacy at Maven, you will:
- Provide strategic and practical advice on legal requirements and compliance with federal, state, and international data privacy laws (GPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, HITECH, etc.)
- Handle privacy- and data protection-related inquiries from external stakeholders
- Update our playbook for and review and advise on DPAs and BAAs, and other agreements involving health data
- Partner cross-functionally with our product, engineering, marketing, and security teams on the company's data collection, storage, use, and transfer practices, as well as data mapping efforts and maintenance
- Advise the business on legal compliance requirements applicable to the privacy and management of our members' personal information
- Conduct due diligence and negotiate appropriate agreements with third-party partners and vendors to ensure their compliance with applicable data privacy laws
- Manage data subject access requests including data deletion requests
- Assist with policy and process development and reviews to ensure compliance with data privacy obligations across jurisdictions
- Stay on top of the latest developments in laws, regulations, and industry trends applicable to our products, including federal, state, and international data privacy and security laws and enforcement
Requirements:
- A J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar
- 2-4 years of legal experience in privacy and health care
- Knowledge of and experience with privacy and regulatory legal frameworks including CCPA, HIPAA and HITECH, and GDPR
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
- You're engaged and excited to help accelerate the growth of a dynamic, fast-paced company revolutionizing the healthcare landscape
- Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills with the ability to balance business needs with legal risks
Helpful experiences and skills:
- Drafting and negotiating DPAs, BAAs, and other agreements involving data privacy
- Privacy certifications are a plus
- Providing legal advice in support of fast-growing tech companies
For candidates in NYC or CO, the salary range for this role is $120,000- $160,000 per year. You may also be entitled to receive a bonus, stock options, and benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset.
