Associate Creative Director

sweetgreen is looking for an Associate Creative Director to execute our creative vision from within our marketing team. As a multidisciplinary creative, you’ll oversee and participate in  all graphic design and creative concepts, lead art direction for shoots, and maintain the overall brand look and feel to world class standards (no pressure!). You will have the opportunity to manage and direct  freelance designers to give creative feedback and continue to push the sweetgreen brand forward. You will have the opportunity to truly balance art and science and understand the business rationale behind creative work. This role will play an integral role within the marketing team by contributing to all areas of the business and setting an example for other designers. This role will also have a dotted line into our creative director on the brand team to collaborate and help with mentorship and further progressing your skills. 

Core Job Duties + Responsibilities:

• Lead and direct graphic design concepting and creation for marketing projects and campaigns that span multiple US markets, across, digital, print, OOH, and CRM.
• Lead and direct art direction for marketing-owned photo and video shoots.
• Understand the sweetgreen brand guidelines & visual systems in order to maintain our brand identity and continue to push our creative design to new heights.
• Manage and direct our freelance designer(s)
• Collaborate with the brand team to create new ways of elevating the sweetgreen identity

About you: (minimum requirements)

• 5-7 years of experience, preferably in-house or agency
• Background in graphic design
• An open mind with aspirational and experimental thinking
• Ability to articulate creative ideas with rationale
• Experience in design systems, typography, color, pattern, composition
• Concepting and developing of art direction shot lists, including lighting, styling, and composition
• Oversight of editing, music direction, color + finishing
• Passion for design / culture / food / sustainability / products / trends
• Ability to drive ideation and execution based on data and business objectives
• A self-starter who has a constant desire to improve and remain innovative in an ever-evolving marketplace
• High standard of creative & attention to detail on all delivery output
• Being an active member of the team; listen, contribute, collaborate, learn
• Fluent in Adobe suite, motion design is a plus
