Responsibilities:

  • Build distributed software systems, APIs, and data models, including writing well-documented, performant, stable and secure code that delivers the business value needed from the requirements.
  • Architect and design robust, scalable software systems, including executing the delivery of design documentation, diagrams, writeups and conclusions regarding the best ways to build scalable, extensible, performant systems, and refining the process used to deliver this information and share it amongst the impacted teams and individuals.
  • Manage production systems, resolve bugs, manage incidents and document production runbooks, including investigating and triaging of production issues, bugs, and incidents, as well as performing issue detection and observability, issue troubleshooting and triaging, and issue resolution and documentation.
  • Conduct and attend in-person team meetings, meetings with business users and technology conferences.
  • Telecommuting permitted from California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, or Washington DC.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field;
  • 3 years of experience working with Python in a Data Engineering environment;
  • 3 years of experience in writing Python code that is well-documented, performant, stable and secure;
  • 3 years of experience in writing unit tests in Python using Unittest or Pytest python libraries;
  • 3 years of experience in architecting and building Distributed system applications that are reliable, scalable, manageable, and easy to handle;
  • 3 years of experience building REST APIs using Python Flask framework – Creating API Endpoints, testing, deploying, and monitoring APIs in production environment;
  • 3 years of experience building Data models for distributed applications using SQL Server database and other No-SQL databases such as Mongo database;
  • 2 years of experience building Docker images using Dockerfile and writing docker compose files for deploying applications using Docker Swarm;
  • 2 years of experience working with AMQP message-oriented middleware (MOMW) such as Kafka;
  • 2 years of experience working with Infra-as-code (IaC) using Terraform and building application environments using .tf files;
  • 2 years of experience working with writing CI/CD pipelines in GitLab using .yml files; 2 years of experience in APM and observability platforms such as Datadog;
  • 2 years of experience managing production operations, monitor the systems using Opsgenie, handle production incidents;
  • 3 years of experience working to understand the user requirements, translate them into application features, designing and developing the system based on user requirements; and
  • 2 years of experience with Release management, an ability to create a production run books.
