So, what’s the role?

The Data Platform team builds the data ingestion, processing and storage backbone enabling engineering, AI, data science, analytics, and application engineering teams throughout Kin to use and understand data. The team is responsible for developing and supporting infrastructure making use of data technologies including Airbyte, Airflow, Databricks, Flink, Fivetran, Redshift, and Terraform along with other industry and internal tools. The successful candidate will have a strong problem-solving ability and be comfortable working in an agile development environment, able to quickly adapt to changing requirements and deliver high-quality solutions promptly.

A day in the life could include:

• Help develop and execute  infrastructure solutions to accommodate growing data volumes and user demands.

• Use Terraform to create, update, and maintain AWS infrastructure as code.
  Help manage the infrastructure for Kafka clusters, ensuring high availability and performance.

• Work with Fivetran, focusing on secure configuration and access management.

• Oversee Databricks workspaces and clusters, managing resource allocation and access controls.

• Identify and resolve infrastructure-related bottlenecks.

• Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems.

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

• Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for working in a team environment.

• The candidate should be able to effectively collaborate with other team members, stakeholders, and data scientists to understand their requirements and provide solutions.

• Capable of learning and using new technologies

• Work within a product definition, requirements, and design phases

• Collaborate closely with Kin’s Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to help gather and develop business requirements

• Python & SQL

• AWS and it’s core components (S3, EC2, IAM, and VPCs) desired

• Be willing to learn Databricks 

• Understand data lake architectures

• Be willing to learn Apache Kafka and distributed system principles

• Be willing to learn DataDog
