This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Associate Database Administrator in India.
This role is focused on supporting and maintaining enterprise-grade database environments within a high-availability, 24x7 operational setup. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of SQL Server databases that support critical healthcare technology systems. The position involves hands-on troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and operational support across complex infrastructure environments. You will work closely with senior DBAs, development teams, and support engineers to resolve incidents and improve system reliability. The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple support cases simultaneously. This role also offers exposure to cloud, virtualization, and enterprise database technologies, making it ideal for professionals looking to grow in database administration and production support.
Accountabilities:
- Provide 24x7 operational support for SQL Server database environments, including weekend and shift-based coverage.
- Perform database installation, configuration, patching, backup, recovery, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor database performance using enterprise tools and proactively resolve performance issues.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex database incidents in collaboration with engineering and development teams.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventive measures.
- Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and solutions in internal knowledge bases.
- Report defects, system issues, and design gaps to development and engineering teams.
- Act as an escalation point for critical database-related incidents.
- Support high-availability environments including clustering, replication, and AlwaysOn configurations.
- Participate in proactive system health checks to improve reliability and reduce future incidents.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal knowledge sharing initiatives.
- 1–3 years of experience in database administration or production support roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of database security, performance tuning, and high-availability solutions such as AlwaysOn and clustering.
- Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, and virtualization/cloud environments.
- Experience with T-SQL and/or scripting languages such as PowerShell is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., performance or network diagnostic tools).
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent support incidents in a structured and organized manner.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
- Good communication skills, with strong verbal and written English proficiency.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a 24x7 operational support environment.
- Microsoft SQL Server certification is a plus.
