A Brief Summary of This Position:

This role in Valmont's Global Utility division involves processing customer orders and preparing drawings for production, maintaining quality and lead-time objectives. The individual collaborates with various departments, reports inconsistencies in customer information, and contributes to improving drafting procedures and systems. Supervised by the Site Drafting Manager/Drafting Supervisor, they interpret customer specifications and assist in resolving order and manufacturing issues, with limited customer interaction. They play a vital role in maintaining departmental and company goals and may suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.

Essential Functions:

• Investigates and analyzes design problems
• Determines changes, corrections, and requirements to meet project demands
• Makes sketches for use by other designers/drafters
• Interpret specifications and standards and provide information to others to ensure that customer requirements are met or improved
• Requisitions parts and products that are used in or interface with company products
• Prepares lists and quantities for use by others in the purchasing function
• Contacts and discusses details of assignment with other engineers, production supervisors, customers, and suppliers and prepares necessary sketches and drawings for use in producing manufacturing plans, etc.
• Communicates with customers, both oral and written, to resolve specification questions in preparation of drawings
• Provides assistance and input on a project basis to other team members in the development of shop drawings

Important Details About the Role::

• Reviews customer contract drawings and manages department backlog
• Maintains required productivity output and order accuracy
• Maintains professional attitude and cooperative demeanor
• Maintains accurate filing system and awareness of drafting policies and manufacturing capabilities
• Identifies and recommends changes to procedures and designs
• Handles special assignments as requested
• Provides technical support to all departments as needed

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:

• High School diploma and 1+ years of work/educational experience
• Technical skills in computer-aided drafting and basic understanding of mathematics
• Experience with 3-D modeling techniques
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and design requirements

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in Drafting
• Strong working knowledge of 3D Computer-Aided Design Software
• AutoCAD 2019, PDF (Nitro Pro), Zoom, Inventor 2019, Scientific Calculator and Drafting Equipment knowledge/experience
