Associate Director, Aviation, Transportation & Commercial Finance

Associate Director – Kroll Bond Rating Agency, LLC – New York, NY.  Responsibilities: The Associate Director in our Aviation, Transportation and Commercial Finance department will work on assigning credit ratings to a range of corporate entities within the transportation and corporate sectors ranging from transportation leasing companies to operators as well as manufacturers of related equipment and all other related service providers. In addition, Associate Director will focus on analysis of complex cash flows, and credit analysis of fixed income debt structures concepts, etc. using core financial theory used for credit tranching of various structures; perform credit research related to the transportation and commercial finance sectors specifically pertaining to the ratings of transactions she/he will be assigned to rate; develop specific models which mimic KBRA’s methodologies for rating complex structures in secured transportation assets; and attend clients’ due diligence meetings. Telecommuting permitted from within normal commuting distance of the office.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in financial engineering, finance, economics, accounting, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field, plus three years of experience performing credit analysis in at rating agency, buy-side, credit research, banking, or other similar environments. Prior experience must include: three years of experience utilizing quantitative skills for complex financial modeling and cash flow analysis in the transportation and/or structured finance sector; three years of experience with core financial modeling theory and fixed income debt structures; three years of experience reviewing sophisticated legal documents and implementing such transaction structures into models; four years of experience with Excel building transaction-specific in-house models, including creating complicated formulas such as macros and vlookup, in support of rating secured fixed income securities; three years of experience actively participating in due diligence conversations with issuers, formulating written credit memos and rating reports, and effectively presenting analysis and recommendations in credit rating committees; three years of experience writing detailed reports for transaction ratings as well as working on developing and writing of rating methodologies; three years of experience presenting to senior members of rating committees, as well as communicating and meeting with C-Suite level staff at rated; and two years of experience with credit rating methodologies.
