Associate Director, Communications

Go deeper: This Associate Director will be responsible for:

• Pitching media on stories related to Axios, including Axios Local, Axios HQ and Smart Brevity
• Pitching and managing speaking engagements for Axios founders and leadership, Axios HQ team and Axios Local reporters
• Pitching and booking Axios Local talent on TV, radio and podcasts in their respective markets
• Supporting announcements and launches for Axios Local and Axios HQ
• Drafting and submitting relevant brand and editorial awards
• Developing awareness strategies and messaging for Axios Local and Axios HQ
• Organizing and executing media and speaking trainings as needed

The details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios’ mission and have the following skills:

• Experience working in fast-paced communications roles, ideally in an agency or newsroom
• Prior experience booking TV appearances for clients or a brand, interacting with reporters and responding to media requests
• Excellent collaboration skills that translate well to a remote work environment
• Ability to write clearly, cleanly, under tight time constraints
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Positive attitude and ability to thrive in high-pressure news environments
• A deep understanding of and excitement for the media and communications industries
