Associate Director, Data Science and AI Operations

As an Associate Director, Data Science and AI Operations in Alcon's Data Science AI/ML function within R&D, you will be trusted to work on serving as a group leader for Data and ML Engineers. Driving operational aspects of AI/ML enabled software application development for R&D project teams. More specifically, this role may involve architecting and executing AI Ops framework, creating Data/AI/ML pipelines, leveraging CI/CD to automate, creating, and executing testing protocols, overseeing other operational aspects of algorithm integration into products, design-control activities to enable deployment, stakeholder management for software application launch, and post-launch life cycle management. In this role, a typical day will include:

• Driver the productization of AI/ML enabled software application for medical devices
• Design and implement scalable Data Ops and ML Ops systems.
• Lead the Data Ops and ML Ops cluster for the Data Science and AI function in R&D
• Partner with data scientists to implement AI/ML enabled Software Application
• Partner with IT Digital Technology to develop and operationalize AI-Ops infrastructure.
• Partner with QA function to create design control artifacts to deploy and maintain AI/ML enabled Software Application
• Provide project management support to Ops team to achieve targeted Data Science Functional deliverable.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
• 7 Years of Relevant Experience
• 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

Preferred requirements include:

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field, and 5+ years of relevant experience (e.g., DevOps Engineer, Data Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or Software Engineer working with AI/ML Systems)
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrable experience leading Data and ML engineers and managing AI/ML projects.
• Demonstrated capability writing reproducible and extensible production-grade code.
• Ability to write robust modular programs and packages in Python.
• Demonstrable experience building Data Pipelines, CI/CD pipelines, and ML Workflow pipelines.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g PyTorch/Tensorflow/Keras), libraries (e.g., SKLearn/XGBoost), and open-source Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Pulumi)
• Familiarity with AWS stack such as Sagemaker suite, ECS, EKS, CodeCommit, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, EC2, S3, AWSCLI, Lambda and Glue preferred
• Functional knowledge of microservices and container orchestration tools such as Docker and/or K8S
