This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Associate Director, Donor Experience in the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for a relationship-driven fundraising professional to help shape and grow a dynamic donor engagement pipeline within a mission-focused healthcare and academic environment. In this role, you will cultivate meaningful connections with mid-level donors, helping strengthen philanthropic support through personalized stewardship and strategic engagement. You will serve as a key bridge between annual giving and major gift development, identifying donor potential and creating impactful donor experiences that inspire long-term commitment. The position combines frontline relationship management with strategic content and pipeline support, offering a unique balance of donor-facing interaction and operational collaboration. Ideal candidates are curious, highly organized, and energized by storytelling, relationship-building, and mission-driven work. This role also offers remote flexibility and the opportunity to collaborate with a passionate and innovative development team.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage and cultivate a portfolio of mid-level donors contributing between $1,000 and $4,999 annually, focusing on donor retention, engagement, and upgrade opportunities.
  • Develop personalized outreach strategies through email, phone calls, handwritten notes, virtual meetings, and in-person interactions to strengthen donor relationships.
  • Identify donor interests, motivations, and philanthropic potential while supporting qualification and referral processes for higher-level giving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with fundraising and donor relations teams to align engagement strategies, stewardship efforts, and pipeline development initiatives.
  • Support donor cultivation and stewardship events, including donor appreciation activities, site visits, and engagement opportunities.
  • Contribute to prospect identification efforts by evaluating referrals, lapsed donor pools, grateful patient programs, and event participants.
  • Utilize donor management systems to maintain accurate records, track engagement activity, and monitor portfolio performance metrics.
  • Develop and execute stewardship plans that connect donors to meaningful stories, funding priorities, and organizational impact.
  • Assist with the creation of donor-facing communications, impact updates, stewardship letters, and engagement content.
  • Maintain and organize donor story resources to support fundraising communications and strengthen donor engagement across teams.
  • Ensure all donor interactions and records are handled professionally and in compliance with confidentiality and data protection standards.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced education in communications, business, marketing, philanthropy, or related fields is preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, annual giving, nonprofit development, or related areas.
    • Experience managing donor portfolios and building relationships through strategic stewardship and engagement efforts.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create personalized donor communications and compelling impact narratives.
    • Proficiency with CRM or donor management systems such as Affinaquest or equivalent platforms.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify donor potential, support pipeline development, and collaborate across fundraising teams.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
    • Experience supporting mid-level giving, grateful patient fundraising, donor qualification, or affinity-based engagement initiatives is highly valued.
    • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor stewardship principles, and relationship management strategies.
    • Ability to analyze donor interests and connect them with mission-aligned opportunities and stories.
    • Collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to relationship-building and problem-solving.
    • Valid driver’s license required.
    • CFRE certification or active pursuit of certification is considered a plus.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive salary commensurate with education and professional experience.
      • Remote work flexibility available for eligible candidates.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans for employees and qualifying dependents.
      • Generous vacation, holiday, and sick leave programs.
      • Retirement plan with up to 10% employer-matched contributions.
      • Basic life insurance coverage.
      • Career development, training, and continuing education opportunities.
      • Tuition discounts for eligible staff and dependents.
      • Employee wellness and support programs.
      • Additional employee discounts and workplace perks.
