Associate Director for Strategic Outreach and Partnerships
Job Description
The Center for Psychology in Schools and Education (CPSE), an office of the Education Directorate for the American Psychological Association, seeks an Associate Director for Strategic Outreach and Partnerships. This is a 20 hour per week, part time position eligible for benefits.
CPSE promotes the application of high-quality psychological science to programs and policies in pre-K through grade 12 education. We achieve this by developing relevant and impactful tools, workshops, and presentations for educators in both formal and informal learning environments, as well as for policymakers working on educational issues. As a liaison within APA and with national educational and scientific societies, federal agencies, and the general public, CPSE plays a crucial role in shaping the education and development of children and adolescents in the context of schools. The Associate Director for Strategic Outreach and Partnerships is responsible for expanding community relations and informing partners of CPSE's goals and activities. This person will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement long-term growth strategies for CPSE, determining the best ways to engage with new partners and cultivate and sustain existing relationships in the PreK-12th grade education arena.
The Associate Director will have knowledge of and experience working with our key audience, PreK-12 education, to inform the development of CPSE tools, knowledge, and resources to extend the impact of our work.
As dissemination of our products is essential to our mission, the Associate Director will work closely with APA's communication team to plan campaigns, and determine the appropriate strategies such as digital projects, visual elements for our websites, and promotional videos necessary to build CPSE's brand and to extend CPSE's reach. Additionally, this person will be able to track metrics, and oversee the recruitment and retention of interns. Looking for an individual who demonstrates proficiency in collaborative work, is productive, and takes initiative.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, educational technology, communications or related field and at least 8 years of experience in the K-12 schooling or educational arena or master's degree in marketing, educational technology, communications, or related field with at least 4 years of experience in the K-12 schooling or educational arena.
- Exceptional writing skills
- Experience craft compelling and effective communications materials for various educational audiences independently and in collaboration with others.
- Exceptional planning and project management
- Knowledge of current digital advancement products.
- Strong multi-tasker and be able to prioritize duties.
- Detail oriented with effective time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:
The Associate Director for Strategic Outreach and Partnerships will assume primary responsibility for the following:
Project Management
- Assist with developing educational content. including identifying appropriate strategies such as online workshops, exhibits, presentations, for use by and in conjunction with identified and developed partners. Determine appropriate content, size, resources, logistics and other relevant criteria for such programming.
- In collaboration with CPSE staff and the Coalition for Psychology in Schools and Education, build CPSE's mission and deliver a positive brand experience to all stakeholders.
Dissemination and Impact
- In collaboration with APA's communications team, CPSE staff and the Coalition for Psychology in Schools and Education,
- Plan visual elements, page layouts, graphics, and the overall structure and navigation of our website.
- Strategize dissemination efforts for CPSE including dissemination of CPSE services and
- Plan multi-channel campaigns for CPSE such as: press releases, newspaper and newsletter articles, promotional events, social media posts, publicity emails and listservs, video recordings and other outreach efforts.
- Plan digital projects such as social media, email marketing, online advertising for CPSE
- Execute innovative audience development strategies with a focus on increasing loyalty and audience diversity.
Community Partnerships
- In collaboration with the CPSE Senior Director and APA's communications team
- Develop essential partnerships with K-12 school partners, educational associations, policymakers, and other educational partners to expand CPSE reach and impact.
- Determine what partnerships to cultivate and develop.
Other
- In collaboration with the CPSE Senior Director
- Develop campaign and project requirements, workflows, task assignments and timeline schedules.
- Develop reporting and analytics to effectively track reach and impact.
- Develop and analyze reporting of metrics for all activities in a succinct and compelling format with key insights highlighted.
- Assist in writing descriptive narratives to accompany and highlight CPSE's outreach and diversity efforts.
- Prepare and present PowerPoint slide presentations for internal and external partners.
- Stay current with digital technology developments. Continually evaluate, recommend emerging platforms to engage our audience.
- Oversee the recruitment and retention of interns, supervise and support their professional development, and foster a culture of academic excellence and innovation.
- Other duties as assigned
