The Associate Director role aligned to one of our company's six (6) strategic business units is a key player on the global communication team. Its principal focus is to support the Mission Systems portfolio, its president and deliver a comprehensive, integrated communications strategy - inclusive of the disciplines of internal/executive, marketing and media. The leadership role teams with the business unit's senior leadership team to develop the integrated plan based on capability-based business goals, an aligned narrative and promotion of marque products, services and leaders.

The successful candidate will ultimately develop strategic content and publish it through a defined and metrics enabled-driven channel strategy. The role is also responsible for effective and collaborative communications counsel to the business unit leadership team, coordination and creation of communications plans and deliverables across-Raytheon business units and other corporate partners, while also leading a team of three (3) direct reports with varying levels of experience. Collaborative leadership of other matrixed business roles is also a core responsibility.

The Associate Director is responsible for:
  • Relationships: The associate director will be effective in establishing solid and strong relationships - at all levels of the organization - ultimately inspiring his/her team to personally commit and deliver on the businesses' goals and aligned integrated communications plan. The integrated plan is developed by the associate director's ability to work closely and collaboratively with his/her assigned President and leadership team - with a heightened focus on alignment and collaboration with the Business Development arm of the business. The role also collaborates closely with members of the Central Collins & Raytheon Technologies Communications teams.
  • Strategy: Develops a one, three- and five-year integrated business communication plan - inclusive of capability-based marketing, marque products and pursuits and internal/executive initiatives - ultimately collaborating with media communications counterparts to incorporate and execute aligned external opportunities.
  • Leadership: Thoughtfully outlines specific roles & responsibilities for each direct report - ultimately empowering and engaging them to work across both marketing and internal communications projects - as assigned - and as new projects develop. Consistently gauges performance and coaches to develop talent.
  • Metrics: Reports out on key metrics (at least quarterly) - that are aligned to the business's integrated strategy - and proactively implements continuous improvement ideas

Primary Responsibilities:
  • As a member of the Collins Central Communications team, you'll work with your SBU president and senior leaders to build and execute a robust, integrated communications program - ultimately aligning all internal/executive, marketing and media strategies and deliverables to capability-based business goals, an aligned narrative and promotion of marque products, services and leaders
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive internal/external communications plan for the President of the business - aligning to both the goals of the strategic business plan and his/her professional platform
  • Oversee the development and deployment of creative and data-driven marketing campaigns focused on generating ROI of the business portfolio's key capabilities, products and services
  • Oversee the development and deployment of an internal communications strategy aimed at increasing employee connection to the business and engagement
  • Lead a cross section of manufacturing and business support staff to implement communications vehicles and activities across the business and manufacturing sites to foster dialogue and support employee engagement. Guide business and functional teams to ensure consistent and aligned messaging across the organization
  • Work directly with colleagues on the Central Communications team to support external communications strategies and tactics related to our products and business; including but not limited to media releases, social media channels, position statements, key messages, Q&A
  • Coordinate with the Central Communication team to anticipate and manage communications for issues and crisis that could impact the company's reputation among key stakeholders, employees or disrupt business activities
  • Partner with the Central Communications' Marketing Center of Excellence (COE) to develop future focused marketing talent and integrated communications strategies with a strong alignment to capability marketing excellence and best practices
  • Create timely, relevant, dynamic written communications and presentations
  • Produce internal videos, webcasts and audio casts on a regular basis to inform the employee population about progress against business strategies and goals
  • Counsel senior leaders on communications issues and key decisions working in collaboration with HR
  • Coach and develop direct reports, ultimately creating deeper expertise among teammates and deepening the 'bench strength' of the communications function
  • Travel up to 20%

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of communications experience in a corporate environment. Experience in an international environment with a strong manufacturing or technical background is a plus
  • Ability to delegate, handle multiple projects, prioritize and act with a sense of urgency
  • Prior experience leading internal and external communications strategies and channels, including effective use of digital and video communications
  • Prior experience preparing and presenting materials on behalf of executives
