Job Description

Quick take: Axios is a growth-stage media company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring an acquisition marketer to help grow our newsletter subscription business and will report into the VP, Marketing and Growth. 

Why it matters: The growth marketer will lead the development and execution of a best-in-class marketing program for Axios’ core products.

Go deeper: As part of the Marketing and Growth team at Axios, you’ll be managing the marketing program for our newsletter subscription business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and managing marketing and optimization programs to drive subscriptions for our national and local newsletters.
  • Leveraging both paid and organic channels as part of the marketing tactics, such as house ads, email marketing, social media, display advertising, paid search and content marketing.
  • Initiating and managing A/B tests to improve conversions and engagements from advertising tactics and the registration flow.
  • Developing messages, writing marketing copy and working with the Design team on creative assets for various marketing channels, including landing pages, marketing emails, social posts and ads.
  • Collaborating with the Audience Development team on organic social media promotions, the Product/Tech team on organic acquisition and the Analytics team on reporting and analysis.
  • Working closely with other Marketing and Growth team members on cross-promotions and sharing lessons learned across the various products.
  • Reporting campaign progress, presenting data-driven insights and recommending next steps to increase the effectiveness of the marketing campaigns.

Details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for Axios’ mission and have the following skills:

  • Experience in customer acquisition marketing for a subscription product.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, especially with product, technology, design, editorial and data teams.
  • Experience partnering with retention or lifecycle marketing in a subscription business is a plus.
  • Experience working in the media industry is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of customer segments and journey through the conversion funnel.
  • Strong analytical skills and a knack for using data to make decisions.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • An independent and creative thinker who takes initiative and makes things happen.

Base range for this role is in the range of $90,000-$100,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation benefits.
