THE OPPORTUNITY: Associate Director of Data & Analytics
Birdy Grey is looking for ahighly analytical Associate Director of Data & Analytics to lead our Analytics team and support the Analytics need of the business. As the Director of Data & Analytics, you'll work directly with founders on critical strategic projects and oversee data across all parts of the business. You will work as part of a resourceful, solutions-oriented team in a fast-paced environment to solve business challenges. The Director will be responsible for blending strategic thinking with hands-on implementation, delivering analyses and insights to drive our business forward. You will build out and own data infrastructure, managing ongoing data needs across all departments as well as ad hoc special analytics projects. This includes setting up our team for sales and KPI reporting, analyzing customer and purchase data, and establishing / managing data platforms. The ideal candidate for this role should have a "doer" attitude, a highly analytical / data-driven mindset, strong business intuition, and excellent time-management and organizational habits.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work cross-functionally with executives and high-level stakeholders to understand their problems and deliver data-driven solutions
- Evangelize the use of data across the business, and have a strong opinion on the strategy for delivering self-serve BI tools
- Recruit, retain, and scale a happy, healthy, productive team of top-notch Data Analysts and foster an environment for growth and learning.
- Develop a roadmap for the data and analytics function that clearly defines ownership and responsibility between the central data function and the functional groups.
- Work closely with Tech and Dev teams to provide detailed data analysis and ensure proper user tracking is implemented on key initiatives. Provide robust web experience metrics reporting, Google Analytics / Tag Manager conversion event & tagging implementation and conversion rate insights driven analysis.
- Oversee consumer and market insights, fielding research as needed across a variety of platforms (e.g., Perksy, User Testing, etc)
- Partner with key stakeholders to develop test & learn strategies related to customer acquisition and retention to drive business impact
- Scope, plan, and coordinate the solution of complex, cross-functional problems that extend beyond the traditional boundaries of product, analytics, and data science
- Continuously develop and improve procedures to enforce analytics approach that will lead to more strategic/insightful learnings and recommendations and/or workflow improvements
- Provide leadership and consistency regarding standard processes to handle and answer recurring & ad-hoc reporting requests by different stakeholders
- Collaborate with all functions of the company to ensure data needs are addressed and the required data is modeled and available to analysts and end-users.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree Required
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in a Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Analytics roles
- Experience working cross-functionally supporting multiple verticals / teams (e.g., marketing, research, finance, operations)
- Expert Fluency in SQL
- Experience leading a Data team at a start-up
- Expert Excel skills to analyze data and build complex dynamic models from scratch
- Experience with dbt
- Experienced with ETL such as Stitch, Fivetran
- Knowledge of BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake
- Excellent grasp of BI Tools such as Looker, Tableau
- Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform data deep dives to surface actionable insights.
- Proactive problem solver with the ability to troubleshoot and/or escalate issues effectively.
- Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up - no job is too big or too small.
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, fluid environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and take initiative to lead projects.

New York Candidates only*: Minimum full-time salary range is generally between $100,000 - $135,000 + bonus + benefits. We continually review ranges to address skills, experience and markets. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a number of factors that include, but aren't limited to a candidate's experience and skills relative to the scope and responsibilities of the position. *Note: Disclosure as required by NY Law (11-1-22) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired as an employee in New York.
